This PUP (popup) is a Standard Series Stardust 1021 with Options. It states it is 21’ long and 6’3” wide with a height of 9’ tall. The weight is 1420 lbs. It suggests that it sleeps 8 people. It is mainly made of canvas. The main colors are tan with an aqua green border, with yellow trim along the sides of the bunk end. Below is a white FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) paneling, covering the main support system.
I bought this PUP at the beginning of 2020 and paid a whopping $300. Great deal and investment, right!!! It states that it sleeps 8, but we have fit up to 9 people in it, but most of them were tiny kids. in a whole this camper was in very good condition. It had only 2 other owners before me and was kept inside most of its life.
She started with a blue interior, with blue curtains, countertops, handles, bedding, and a 90’s multicolored busy pattern on the cushions. Call me crazy but I love the cabinet color and kept them. They were in great shape and I didn’t feel I should spend the extra money on primer, paint, and supplies. Now, I will say, this could change, and I might want to paint them. in the past, I have chosen more neutral colors like white or grey. I might mix it up and do a dark blue or dark green cabinet color. The flooring is a cream color but in some areas, it looks yellow. It has a very busy square pattern to it.
This PUP can run on propane, electricity, or a generator. we tend to lean more towards services like electricity and water when we camp. We usually run an ac unit, TV with DVD player and smaller kitchen equipment and it can tend to run down my propane or generator quickly. Plus, my generator is kind of loud. LOL.
This PUP does come with a refrigerator and chest to keep things cool. Although I have frozen some milk in the fridge before when we have taken longer trips. It works rather wonderfully. It takes my fridge to cool to temp in about 3 hours and I have a thermometer inside that I use to gauge my temperature when it’s too warm or cold. The chest they gave us holds a lot of food. Sometimes I’ll put the drinks in there on cold winter days or put dry or canned items in there to store. When the PUP is closed, I will usually store our TV, DVD player, remote controls, and smaller electronic cords to prevent them from breaking.
The camper came with a stovetop that can be used indoors or latched on the camper outside. I rarely use it on smaller trips, as it connects to propane only, and don’t want to waste my propane. Our method is either a charcoal grill provided by my campsites or our electric griddle, crockpot, or double stovetop.
This PUP did not come with a bathroom or shower setup, which is why we mostly stay at the campsites with services like bathrooms, vaults, or showers. Although when we do boondock, I have set up a hula hoop with a shower curtain in the back of the camper with a little homemade porta-potty. Works tremendously well and is very private.
I have a sink inside and rarely use it unless it is a long trip or the weather outside isn’t so good. I do not use it in colder weather, in which the temperature is 45 degrees or below. Though the sink is a great storage unit, we use it a lot. It is a great way to hide our keys, phone, and dog treats. Yes, I have a very smart dog who has already figured out where we hide them at. I have made a small cutting board, to fit right over the sink. She hasn’t found a way to open it yet! For the water source, I have a foldable outdoor table that has a sink and hose attached. I can use it with or without services. I bought it at Walmart and it allows us to wash our hands and dishes outside, without bringing into the cabin bugs and dirt.
I have a dinette that can seat 4 people and another table by the sofa area that can seat 2 more. Although we love to play games on both these tables, they still aren’t big enough. We usually make everyone eat outside unless it is cold or raining. Most of the time we put the dining table outside for the day. It’s great storage for the coolers and leaves room for everyone in the camper to walk around in.
Our dining table can fold into another bed, more like a twin size XL, and houses the ac unit on one end and the water tank and hoses on the other. At each side of the PUP, I have beds, one a queen-size bed and the other more like a full-size bed, it is bigger than a twin. The sofa folds down to a full bed as well and both fit full fitted sheets. On the queen-size bunk, it has a light that hooks up to the ceiling and a long shelving unit. This adds more storage for us.
With a PUP storage is limited and I have 6 cabinets that house all of our kitchen items. I bought additional storage containers for the shelving units and made a tension rod shelving unit.
I have 2 interior outlets that hold 4 plugins. On the exterior, I have one outlet that holds up to 2 plugins. the camper is installed with 2 interior dome lights and one light source that connects to the ceiling for the large bunk end. I have one light source outside that only covers the ground and steps. It broke one day when we laid the table against the side of the camper. Whoops. I will fix that though.
The entire camber is white with StarCraft decals peeling off. I will remove them and paint the entire camper white with black decals and black trim later on.
It doesn’t originally come with an AC unit, but the previous owners put in an AC unit below the dinette table. It does have a propane heater and it works very well.
The final thing I want to talk about is the damage or what little there is. Besides normal wear and tear, this camper is in great condition. It has hail damage from a storm they once we’re in, but the canvas and exterior are in great condition. However, the last owner accidentally ripped a corner of the large bunk end and had to fix it with Flex Seal tape. It doesn’t leak and is barely noticeable. All in all, this is a great popup camper.
