New Disney Starlight Details!
Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes video for Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, packed with previously unannounced details ahead of the nighttime parade’s debut on July 20 at Magic Kingdom.
The video offers a deeper look at the creative work behind the show and introduces two elements not revealed until now: a new character named Whimsy and a reimagined Jiminy Cricket with custom animation.

New Leading Character
“The video reveals that the parade’s grand finale float is led by Whimsy, a brand-new character created for Disney Starlight. Described as a “child-like whimsical character made of starlight,” Whimsy adds a fresh face to the Disney parade lineup. Inspired by vintage animation and brought to life with a playful, energetic spirit, Whimsy embodies the parade’s theme of wonder and dreams. He appears on the glowing finale train that includes many iconic Disney characters.”
Jiminy Cricket Returns with All-New Animation
“Also revealed: Jiminy Cricket will appear at the end of the parade in a brand-new animated sequence, created specifically for Starlight. The animation, supervised by legendary Disney animator Eric Goldberg, combines traditional pencil-to-paper techniques with modern effects. The team broke Jiminy down into over 70 pieces to mimic 3D lighting while keeping his 2D look, allowing him to be lit by a new visual element called Starlight Magic. Jiminy’s inclusion is a nod to his role in SpectroMagic, where he also waved goodbye at the end of the parade.”

The video also confirmed the general order of floats in the parade:
- Blue Fairy (opening float)
- Peter Pan and the rooftops of London
- Asha and the Kingdom of Rosas (Wish)
- La Familia Madrigal (Encanto)
- Elsa (Frozen)
