Homemade Canopy or Awning Anchor Sandbags
Every wondered how to hold down your canopy, tent, or awning on concrete or rocky areas? Well, look no further! We have an affordable, secure, and portable anchor that works wonderfully to secure any canopy, tent, or awning! The best part is it is free to budget-friendly!
These anchors are homemade and work wonders, especially in strong, gusty winds the type you encounter in Kansas. They can weigh any size you desire, and you only need 2 items to make them. A large sock and sand!
For ours we used compression socks, they were from the hospital when my father was there and had only worn them once. We had 2 different sets, one in black and the other in white. We found that the white socks were much longer and can hold more sand weighing 20+ lbs. each sock. The black set could hold around 15+ lbs. each sock, what a shocker!!! We got the sand at the lake. The kids filled them up for us and had fun doing it. Once we had what we needed we just tie the ends up with a knot!
We also saw compression socks at the thrift store for 25 cents a set. We choose to use our own but if you’re looking for some there is one place you can find them. I wouldn’t go buy news at the store they would cost about the same for you to buy anchor sandbags online.
Once they are finished you will hang them on the inside of your canopy, I use 2 of them on the diagonal corners of the canopy. I also use them on the inside of the camper awning. I also see other put them on the poles of the canopy.
This was a fun project and so cheap! View the pictures below! Look for more hacks and tricks here on the website!
