D23 News: Disney to Plan 100th Anniversary Exhibit and Celebration Next Year!
Wow, I mean 2023 is going to be a big year for Disney will new rides and Nighttime Spectaculars coming, just to name a few. Disney has announced they are celebrating Disney’s 100th Anniversary with Exhibits and celebrations at al the parks. Though they kept things tightly closed for exact details and dates, what we do know is that the 100th celebration started on October 16th, 1923. Giving us a more comprehensive timeline for the start of it.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek has dubbed this 100th Anniversary “historic and unprecedented,” along with massive celebrations that will span the globe with new experiences, exclusive merchandise, and much, much more. Along with the galleries, the exhibition will feature an immersive environment of sight and sound spanning 15,000 square feet, showcasing stories and characters from The Walt Disney Company’s last century.
The Disney100: The Exhibition will debut on February 18th, 2023, at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA, followed by nine other galleries. The Walt Disney Archives opens its vault of treasures, showcasing hundreds of extraordinary objects, including Disney’s “Crown Jewels” – more than 250 rarely-seen original artworks and artifacts, costumes and props, and other memorabilia.
“As we approach the 100th Anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, we at the Walt Disney Archives are incredibly excited about traveling a new and unique exhibit marking a century of unparalleled innovation and storytelling with the world,” said Rebecca Cline, director of the Walt Disney Archives. “This groundbreaking exhibition will celebrate the wonder of Disney, from 1923 to the present and into the future.”
