Disney World: New Rules Announced for Space Mountain
We’ve learned some curious ride news today about Space Mountain. Apparently, there are more items banned from this ride. On Space Mountain, only, guests are now no longer allowed to have any handheld devices such as cameras, phones, etc. while riding.
“Space Mountain
Hand-held or loose articles, including cell phones, and cameras, are not permitted while riding
Items must be secure on the person, in a vehicle storage or left with a non- rider.”
Disney
If you have these items, you much secure them in a pocket, bag or put in the storage pouch. No one is whip anyone of these devices out while riding on the roller coaster.
Now it’s not clear what triggered this change, but we have seen people walk up to cast member and say they lost their hat, phone or even glasses on this ride. You haven’t ridden this ride it is a fast-high-flying ride in the dark and takes several turns and twist. Finding those lost items becomes almost impossible on a dark ride like Space Mountain and they must stop the ride and turn the lights on. A big safety concerns for staff member as well as annoyance don’t forget those who must wait in line longer for these issues. In the past if you lost something there you had to wait till the end of the night to get it retrieved from the ride. I don’t know the current policy, but they hope this new policy will eliminate some of those problems.
