Enhancements Starting Soon to Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World
Disney will soon start to release a new update for its Genie+ service. This will help with modifying Lightning Lane selections, a big problem at the moment. While Disney has had Genie+ for over a year, it has had to workout all the kinks to this new program, changing major portions of the system to simplify it better for Disney’s guests. The new update will allow guests to search for other Lightning Lane experiences and times prior to modifying the existing reservation.
*Note that the new selection must be in the same park and does account for park hopping. But to book a selection in another park, the original reservation must be cancelled first. Guests who have purchased the Disney Genie+ service can make their first selection at 7:00 am on the day of their visit.
Using the My Disney Experience app, guests will be able to modify any existing booking without several steps. Currently you need to first cancel the reservation and then making another booking. In turn losing your spot. This only applies to Lightning Lanes that are part of Genie+, and not those that are in the individual attraction list or the à la carte section.
Modifying a Lightning Lane selection will not change the timeframe for when their next selection can be made. Guests will be able to make another Lightning Lane selection with Disney Genie+ service once they redeem their current selection, once their full arrival window has passed, or after 120 minutes has passed from the original booking (or 120 minutes after the published park opening time, whichever is later).
