Your Way of Drinking at Walt Disney World Will Change
Disney has slowly changed their efforts to achieve zero waste to landfill for its parks, resorts and cruise line, and Disney World. Starting in phases the availability of plastic lids and paper straws at all their quick-service restaurants and snack locations across the Walt Disney World Resort changes August 21, 2023. Guests will need to ask for paper straws and plastic lids but only by request from those working at the counter. Straws will no longer be located near the condiments stations as well.
Disney has changed from plastic straws to paper straws at all owned and operated locations globally. It has already removed 200 million plastic straws and stirrers from the trash stream.
Disney’s statement:
Beginning in 2018, we set a series of commitments to eliminate single-use plastic straws, plastic stirrers and polystyrene cups at all owned and operated locations across the globe,” Disney’s Environmental Goals Program states, “to transition to refillable in-room amenities in our hotels and on our cruise ships, and to reduce the number of plastic shopping bags in our owned and operated parks and on our cruise lines.
As a result, we have eliminated over 200 million plastic straws and stirrers, completed removal of polystyrene cups, reduced plastics in over 15,000 of our guest rooms by 80 percent by replacing all disposable toiletries with bulk amenities and minimized plastic merchandise bags.
