How to set up a pop-up camper (1994 Starcraft stardust 1021)
*Some setups may differ due to modifications, company and/or size of camper.
- Back up camper to campsite with utilities matching the appropriate side of camper.
- Turn off vehicle and add parking brake
- Take out chocks and place under camper wheels
- Pull down trailer hitch jack (Optional: Round chock for front trailer jack wheel if applicable)
- Unlock, unlatch trailer hitch ball along with safety chains from tow vehicle receiver and/or sway bars (If applicable)
- Lock trailer hitch for anti-theft
- Level trailer from front to back add blocks under trail hitch for support
- Setup stabilizers, level front to back and side to side (Optional: tire leveler for smaller camper wheel)
- Remove all items from roof racks or trailer hitch (Front or back) (If applicable)
- Unlatch camper roof all four sides
- Unzipper canopy bag (If applicable)
- Unlock camper door
- Pull out crank and attach. Gradually start turning the pop-up camper crank (insuring your not going to far up) This will protect the cables from breaking and allowing the door to latch firmly, without a gap.
- Pull down the camper’s steps
- Setup the canopy (If applicable)
- Start removing objects that block you from getting into camper, including your bunk end stabilizers
- Start with the biggest bed, put the stabilizers in place. Cautiously slide out the bed and connect eat stabilizer. Follow up with the second bed. Pull out slider next. (If applicable)
- Step inside and pull up the kitchen sink and any cabinets (If applicable)
- Unlatch the door from the roof and set into place
- One by one put up the bunk ends with the roof poles, carefully. At this point in time, you can unzip your windows if it is too hot in the camper (I do this on hot summer days)
- Zipper the four canvas corners from inside.
- Step outside and latch together the bottom side of bunk ends and wrap the tarp around the 4 bracing components. Insure a tight fit along all sides of the pop-up canvas.
- Next connect the utilities, electric, water cable, propane. Ensure that each are working properly.
Now time to set up camp the way you prefer! Then relax you’re finished! Enjoy!!! Disassembling is straightforward as well, just follow the steps backward ensuring everything is packed in securely and accurately.
