Breaking News: Disney Cast Members Protest and Current Information
In short Disney Cast members have asked their Union reps to increase their pay due to the economical concerns and increased expenses. Currently, Florida’s minimum wages is $11 an hour. Disney’s cast members start at a minimum wage of $15 an hour in some departments.
Disney’s cast members have asked to increase that to $20 and hour, but Disney counteracted that with a dollar raise every year leading up to $20 an hour in five years. Disney’s cast members declined the offer and said they need immediate increase due to the economic concerns now.
Disney is still short of the pre-pandemic staffing goal but has gotten close. Nothing more has been said on both parties and both are not willing to budge at this time. Time will tell on what will be done next, but when we have the news, we will let you know right away.
Workers are chanting, “Disney workers need a raise,” while holding signs describing difficulties affording health care, formula for their children and rising rents. In bargaining, Disney proposed to raise starting pay by $1/hour per year to reach $20. CMs say they need more now.
