Disney Updates Their Dining Cancellation Policy Again
Guests can now cancel their Walt Disney World dining reservations up to two hours before the reservation time in the My Disney Experience App. Previously, they had to call Disney’s 1-800 number, pay a no-show fee (typically $10 per person), or modify the reservation to another day and then cancel it. This was changed earlier this year to 24 hours or before 11:59 pm the night before. Mind you the update does not apply to dining experiences that guests must pre-pay for. This is for ding spots like Cinderella’s Castle.
The old policy made it harder for some families with younger children not feeling well or too tired to make the reservation and was pretty costly as well. We are so excited this has changed. You never know what the day might bring you and you can get a better guess within a 2–4-hour window if you can make that dinning reservation or not.

It appears you can now cancel dining reservations in the Walt Disney World app if it’s at least 2 hours before your reservation. I don’t think this tweak impacts restaurants that require prepayment (Cinderella’s Royal Table, etc.).

Modifications, Cancellations and Refunds
We understand how much excitement, thought and time goes into planning your visits to Walt Disney World Resort and realize some of these changes may be disappointing. Please know we will be here to help you, as our Cast remains focused on delivering magical experiences and incredible storytelling for everyone who visits.
During this unprecedented period, some of our policies and offerings have been modified:
Guests in the United States and Canada Who Booked with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company, Inc.
- All pre-paid dining and experience reservations impacted by the closure have been automatically refunded.
- Reservations made at locations impacted by the closure were not charged cancellation or no-show fees.
- We have made the difficult decision to cancel and temporarily no longer offer Disney dining plans. If you have an existing Resort package with a Disney dining plan, we will update your reservation to reflect the removal of the dining plan from your package. The package price will be adjusted accordingly. You will receive a refund if you have already paid in full or a reduction in amount due if you have not yet made final payment.
- You must cancel at least one day prior to your reservation to avoid a per person cancellation fee. If you fail to cancel timely and are a no show, the credit card provided at the time of reservation will be charged $10.00 per person.
