Extra Magic Hours (Update!) Early Theme Park Entry
What is Disney’s Extra Magic Hours? It is a program that permits only Walt Disney World Resort guests to visit a specific theme park on a specified day ahead of their normally scheduled operating hours. In most cases, Disney’s Extra Magic Hours would start up to 2 hours before the theme park opened or 2 hours after the theme park closed. In previous years it was offered to all Walt Disney World resort guests but was discontinued in 2020 with other numerous Disney resort guest benefits.
Additional, Extra Magic Hours had some requirements: guests had to have valid theme park admission and hotel ID. Guests without the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus Option were required to spend the day at the same park where they’d like to enjoy the Extra Magic Hours benefit.
Extra Magic Hours rules:
Not all Walt Disney World attractions are available during Extended Evening Theme Park Hours. Extended Evening Theme Park Hours schedule and available attractions are subject to change without notice.
Applicable theme park, days and times of operation, attraction and service availability may vary and are subject to change without notice. Subject to capacity and cancellation.
If we find any new information on Extra Magic Hours, we will make sure we update this information.
UPDATE:
Disney World has announced that Extra Magic Hours will be replaced by what is being called “Early Theme Park Entry,” later this year. No date for this service has yet to be announced, but it has been rumored to start in the fall, just around the 50th Anniversary Spectacular. Early Theme Park Entry will be exclusive to select Walt Disney World Resort hotels only. The hours have changed as well. Disney World has announced that they will allow “30 minutes Early Entry” to any of the four theme parks when it begins. This is far from different than the previous 1 to 2 hours from the former “Disney Extra Magic Hours.” Disney Park Passes will however still be needed for park entry. Surprisingly, Disney released the shortlist of participating resorts in the Early Theme Park Entry program. They are as followed:
Walt Disney World-owned resorts
Walt Disney World Dolphin & Swan Resorts
Shades of Green
Disney Springs area hotels
Four Seasons Resort Orlando
We hope to hear more news from Disney about the “Early Theme Park Entry” program and look forward to seeing more resorts added to the list.
