More Photos to Come!!!
Let’s face it popup campers can be limited in storage space when the camper is down, but not when it’s up, it’s a whole new ball game. With stores offering convenient plastic containers, drawers, tubs, and more to store your personal belongings who needs more space. Well, me over here!!!
Storage can be restricted in most popup camper’s bunk spaces but there are those few popup campers that are lucky to come with accessible built-in storage. However, many don’t know what items to put on them, due to their lightweight capabilities.
There are a few ways to take advantage of the extra space in your bunk end spaces. (Weight limit required)
- Create shelving above beds with collapsible or stackable storage.
- Add brackets to the ceiling to hang storage or utilize the curtain tracks
- Utilizing cushions or countertops near the bedside
- Create bedside storage that hangs from the mattress or bunk end
- Hanging items to store on tent poles or glide outs
Let’s explore some ideas to allow you to store your devices, glasses, and much more all without having to get out of bed.
P.S. This is also great for the youngsters, and conveniently allows for more space to fit all their devices, toys, and loose items.
The Lucky ones!
Some popup campers have built-in shelving or hooks from the ceiling to add additional storage to the popup camper. You are the lucky ones; is your camper ready to organize or do you need more? You probably just need some smart and simple ideas to create a better organization plan.
SPECS:
In my current popup camper, I have a long build-in shelf above the large queen-size bunk end. This came stock with the camper and has a lightweight capacity. Do I know the weight limit? Nope, but heard 20lbs max. Though my nephew got on it and it didn’t break, and he was 50lbs at that time. So, we try to fit more on it now. The shelf is 18” in depth and leaves plenty of room to sleep without bumping my head.
What I store
I store the normal devices: a tablet, cell phone, headphones, Fitbit & charger. I also bring a book or two to read, adult coloring books with colored pencils, a wallet, clothes, glasses, medicine, and extra linens.
What I use
- Hanging Storage
- Sofa Armrest Organizer for Cushions
- Bedside Caddy Organizer
- Collapsible Bins
Not So Lucky folks!
Not so-lucky folks get to spend some money and mainly your time adding these key elements to your camper. Good thing though this is all budget friendly and DIY!
Our camper
Unfortunately, my daughter, who sleeps on the other side of the camper, does not and struggles with storage. In her words, “she requires storage!” Lucky, we have organized her small area to provide the ultimate storage solution for a teen and her dog. This can be an overwhelming and very cluttered sleeping area.
SPECS:
Her bed is just smaller than a full-size mattress. She also must share it with an overbearing chocolate lab. So, space is limited on the bed. She has a sofa that butts up to her bed making it hard to have bedside storage. So up we go!
Her necessities:
She has lots of goodies that accompany her when we camp. Her main items are her devices: phone, headphones, tablet, Switch, and games. Plus, her normal items like glasses, clothes, art supplies, and the dog’s belongings.
What she uses
- Hanging Storage
- Sofa Armrest Organizer for Cushions
- Bedside Caddy Organizer
- Collapsible Bins

DIY shelf for your bunk end
Of course, you can get creative and make a shelf for the bunk end just using chains and a closet shelf. Weight limited would diffidently be restricted and you may play a balancing game with them, but it would be a great DIY project and budget-friendly.
